Just perfect!

The lack of notice was the worst part. We called right away and were told that all our bookings had apparently been canceled, without letting us or the other guests know. We’d booked a room for ourselves for our wedding and recommended the hotel to friends and family. Everything had been confirmed, so we thought it was all set. One guest then told us he’d been told, “We are fully booked with refugees from Ukraine until the end of the year.” We understand that people in need have to be accommodated. But if the city of St. Wendel had booked the rooms, the hotel should either have kept us informed that they weren’t available for our weekend or told the guests who had already booked that their rooms had to be canceled because of the emergency. We won’t consider this hotel chain again, and neither will our friends or family.

The room was extremely hot, with no air conditioning, and it was very dated and poorly furnished. I also found out breakfast wasn’t included. At 5:20 PM there was nobody at reception to check me in. I could get into the room with a key they’d left for me, but then waited more than three hours, and made two phone calls, before I could check in properly and get the Wi-Fi password. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, and I won’t be back.

The room was spotless and really quiet at the back, and getting the key and checking in went great. The initial messages were confusing, though. I’d already given them our arrival time, but they asked twice when we’d be coming, which left me worried things might not go smoothly. Breakfast was offered at the hotel about a five-minute drive away. We chose the bakery on the same street instead.
