The village of Sasbachwalden was beautiful and gemütlich, and we had a wonderful time. You can walk everywhere, there’s everything you need, and even a 24/7 supermarket nearby. The hotel also makes a great base for the Schnapsbrunnenweg, which I highly recommend. It’s a hike with self-service schnaps fountains along the way, where you can get a schnaps for €1/1,50. Such a fun way to explore the area. Our room was cozy and super comfortable, with an amazing view from the window. The owner was so nice and gave us the best service I’ve experienced in a lifetime. He really cares about the hotel and the guests, and knows a lot about the area.

The hotel itself was amazing, and there was a restaurant on site that served breakfast every day. We were there Sunday to Wednesday, though, and dinner was available only one night. Without a car, it was hard to find somewhere else to eat. We didn’t have a car, taxis weren’t available, and the bus came only once an hour, so there was a lot of walking. Still, the hotel was magical apart from that difficulty.

A fairy-tale kind of place, almost like a Hobbit's home. Breakfast was excellent, and the town is surrounded by vineyards and lots of hiking trails. We felt so lucky to find it!

The Oberle family and their staff were so friendly and welcoming. I loved the little garden and the sauna, too. I’ve just had two wonderful nights at this small family-run hotel, and I can’t wait to return.

The view of the surrounding vineyards from our room was amazing, and walking paths lead either into town or up into the hills. Holzwurm is a beautiful place to stay when visiting Sasbachwalden. Eugen was great with guests and had excellent suggestions for day trips and activities. Patrick, their chef, was incredible. I highly recommend the flammkuchen made in their outdoor pizza oven. I can’t wait to visit Sasbachwalden again, and hope to stay at Holzwurm when I do.
