The bathrooms and bedrooms were clean, and the kitchen had everything, including two kinds of coffee makers. It’s a beautiful, clean apartment with a fantastic view, and I’d recommend it. A few things could be better, though. The washing machine is in the shared basement and costs €3; you need to be there to empty it on time or pay another €3. That should be mentioned online or in the contract. The floor also needs mopping. My white socks were completely black underneath by the end of the day, even though it’s laminate and can be wiped down. The balcony table needs replacing or sanding and repainting, unless you want to risk splinters. The sofa area isn’t comfortable, and the wicker sofa and chair don’t invite you to sit. The leather armchair smells awful and needs replacing. Blackout curtains in the bedrooms would help too, since summer sunrise wakes you up.

We had hoped to relax on the balcony during our 11-day stay in the Baltic Sea Apartment at Villa Amelie, especially since my husband has mobility issues. Instead, the broken beach chair meant we spent hours on hard wooden chairs, and the missing front sunshade and loose canopy frame, with a screw ripped out, seemed like a safety hazard. Inside, the bathroom towel rack was broken and towels kept falling, the wardrobe locks didn’t work, and the coffee cups still had residue from previous guests. Fly screens would also help, as we dealt with mosquitoes, wasps, and spiders every day. We booked through the Sassnitz Tourist Information Office, but our complaints weren’t taken seriously. They said they didn’t know about the towel rack, while the cleaner told us it had been broken for a long time. The apartment is spacious and modern, and that had pleasantly surprised us, but these issues weren’t fixed. The owner wouldn’t let us contact her, supposedly for data protection reasons. We were very disappointed and couldn’t enjoy the holiday. This is no way to treat paying guests! The only places we really enjoyed were Sassnitz, Sellin, and Binz. The apartment badly needs repairs.
