You choose the fish you want, then wait while they cook it for you. The selection is impressive, and the fish is sourced locally, either by the restaurant or local fishermen. It tasted incredibly fresh and was cooked perfectly, with flavors that are hard to find elsewhere. We had an amazing meal, some of the best fish we’ve had in a very long time, maybe ever. The fish soup was another great choice. It’s based on a recipe from DDR times and has a rich, nostalgic flavor that you don’t find in many places anymore. The outdoor seating is relaxed and pleasant, but I especially liked the cozy, beautifully designed interior. If you’re in Sassnitz, this place is a must for fresh, local, delicious food.

It’s super basic, budget accommodation. We picked it because nearly everywhere else was sold out, but for the price in this area, I think it’s good value. The twin beds are really small, and the pillow was awful, though that seems common in a lot of German places. It’s close to most of the things you’d want to visit in Sassnitz. Check-in and checkout are a bit of a hassle, but that goes with budget accommodation.

It was fine for me on my own. The place was clean and right at the port of Sassnitz. If you’re used to luxury and expect a bit of it, be ready to pay more and stay somewhere else.
