Ferienwohnungen Maarberg Resort

Our group of friends booked this resort in February 2025, and the communication was good at the time. When we arrived, they asked us to pay €500 for bed linen and towels. Before we had even been able to check in, the owner told us he doesn't like English, less than 30 minutes after our arrival. The rooms we had booked had already been given to other people, and we were offered different ones instead. We didn't feel welcome and were basically told to leave. Now we're fighting to get more than €3,000 refunded. Avoid this place.

The view from the balcony over the lake and town was lovely, and the location was quiet, close to Schalkenmehren lake for walks or a climb up the mountain with the cross. There are also a restaurant and a cafe in town. Our room had large bedrooms with double beds, wardrobes and nightstands, plus a living room fan and a dining table for six. The kitchen was fully equipped, and the bathroom had a shower, a whirlpool tub and a TV. A very nice hotel.

Wolfgang's friendly manner and the conversations with him made me feel at home even before I arrived. He also shared a lot about the area and the history of Germany, Belgium and Switzerland. The apartment was nicely furnished and well lit, with everything I needed to cook and an amazing steam shower. The sauna was a treat any day of the week, and a jacuzzi was due to be added soon. The setting and views are breathtaking, relaxing and still fun to get outside in, even in the rain. I stayed here for months while working in Germany, and coming back to My Mountain Retreat always felt like being on holiday when I rounded the corner and saw the beautiful red building. I can't wait to share it with my husband.

The service was great, and the apartment felt both luxurious and very nice. It also had a lovely view over the lake and hills.
