We were really happy with the apartment we booked on short notice. Apartment (3) was a great choice, and our dog enjoyed the park nearby. The beach and promenade were only a short walk away. It was comfortably furnished, with beds that were still in good shape. The amenities covered everything we needed. We’d love to return for another little Baltic Sea break.

Landhaus Marwede is in a lovely spot near the beach and the park playground, and we had a really enjoyable stay in Haffkrug. We spent six nights in Apartment 1 with our family. Its size worked well for us, and we hadn’t expected luxury. A few things did bother us: there were cobwebs in the corners, some plates were chipped, the patio door was broken, and the kettle seemed quite old. We let the landlord know about all of this right away.

The location is great, and we’d happily stay again. The accommodation itself is simple and a bit dated. If you’re here for a beach holiday or just want to walk along the beach, it’s a budget-friendly choice.

Being so close to the beach was a plus, and the price, with bed linen and towels included, was reasonable. Still, we won’t book here again. We don’t need fancy furnishings, but we do expect a place to be clean, in working order, and free of bad smells. The road almost beside the window also meant I can’t confirm that it’s a quiet location, although it was definitely quieter at night than during the day. We were in apartment number 4 with our family of three. The basic furnishings were adequate, but the apartment smelled musty from the start. A closer look turned up dust, dirt, and cobwebs, especially under the beds and in other less visible spots. If you didn’t inspect too closely, the avoidable dirt was tolerable. The bathroom was worse: mildew marks on the door and walls, and a fan cover so dirty it was practically unusable. The shower drain couldn’t keep up, so water ended up all over the bathroom floor even with a very long shower curtain. With the poor ventilation, we had to mop it dry. Then we lifted the bottom bunk mattress and found mildew stains on about half of it. That also explained the smell in the room. We reported the mattress and fan problems at once. The landlord was diligent and courteous and ordered a new mattress immediately. As bedtime approached, water started dripping from the ceiling onto the parents’ bed. We told the landlord, and he was very surprised, saying it hadn’t happened for several years. The roof is flat, and it hadn’t rained for days. He offered to reduce the rent, then made the sarcastic remark, “Have good sex, then the dripping won’t bother you at all.” Until then, I’d found him quite likeable. One side of the double bed was unusable, so one parent had to sleep on the mildew-stained mattress. It was already 10 p.m., too late for us to move out that night. There were a few other small issues, but other reviews have already mentioned them. Fortunately, the next morning we found somewhere nearby that could take us right away. We spent the rest of our vacation there and didn’t have to drive back. We received a full refund without any trouble. Apart from a few situations, the landlord is a nice person.

Haus Käckenmeister was such a friendly, easy place to stay, and the Käckemeister family made us feel welcome. Parking at the house was included, and the beach was very close. For me, the January stay was fantastic value for money, and we’d love to return soon. We stayed in “Property 2” with two people and our large dog for a long weekend in January 2022. It’s not a big apartment, but it was just as described and suited us perfectly. The thoughtful furnishings had everything we needed, from plenty of dishes and cookware to glasses, a can opener, and tea towels. We enjoyed fresh rolls from the bakery just 200 meters away and could cook when we wanted. The heating worked well, and the bathroom was small but well designed, with a large shower. The modern TV, comfortable little couch, excellent mattresses, and duvets with lovely bedding made for restful nights. Hand towels, bath towels, and a bath mat were included in the price. A few small things to know: the walls are a little thin, and very overweight people might find the bathroom cramped. You can hear some traffic because the apartment is right on the main access road, though that also puts you practically at the beach. You can’t have everything, but staying with the Käckemeister family felt like a real jackpot to me. Unreservedly recommended. We didn’t miss a thing, and I can’t imagine higher praise.
