ipartment Berlin Airport @HOME by Best Western

Snow made the open grounds feel like a winter wonderland, with plenty of room for kids to play. The grounds were lovely, and I enjoyed the whole stay. It was quiet and almost zen-like, away from the city but just five minutes from the airport. I visited in winter and would gladly come back.

The room was spacious and nicely equipped, but I couldn’t lock the door from inside, which feels essential. There was also a lot of noise from neighbouring guests watching football and shouting until around 3 a.m., so the walls don’t block much sound. I picked this place to rest near the airport instead of taking a train on flight day, and the check-in made that stressful: I read the emails, couldn’t get through the main entrance, and had to wait for someone to leave. Then the electronic system kept saying I had no reservation, with nobody at reception to help. If you need an easy check-in and a good night’s sleep, look elsewhere.

Once you get there and the check-in works, it’s a comfortable, well-equipped place. Getting there was the problem. The shuttle was impossible to locate: the directions varied between the Intercity reception, which the hotel or apartment referred me to by phone, and the bus terminal. I ended up paying for a taxi and could have stayed at the airport without the stress. The shuttle ruined the stay for me.

The worker was really helpful and let us check in early, which we appreciated. I never got her name, but thank you! The staffing hours were odd, with the office only open until 2 or 3 p.m., and the check-in system felt strange. Booking.com sent the wrong confirmation code, so I think it’s better to book through the ipartment website. As an airport hotel, it’s pretty much what you expect: a room, a bed and a bathroom.
