Gästehaus am Stadtrand

For just under 40 euros, we got a double room with almost nothing in it, and the whole place felt unloved. The bedside lamp was broken, so there wasn't even a small light for the evening. One mattress had sagged into such a deep, uncomfortable hollow that I could barely sleep and ended up with a bad backache. There was dust piled up and spiders behind the bathroom door. The sparse furnishings wouldn't have bothered us for a one-night stop, but the lack of cleanliness did. We can't recommend it.

I got into the room using a key from a mailbox. The landlord wasn't there when I arrived, so I called and he gave me the code to open it. The room itself was okay, but the hallway and kitchen were dirty. In all five days I stayed, I never saw the landlord or anyone come to clean.

Cheap accommodation doesn't mean you should put up with a foul smell and a filthy kitchen and refrigerator. That level of dirt is unacceptable.

I haven't stayed there myself, but these reviews seem unbelievable to me. People go looking for the cheapest guesthouse around, then complain that it's basic and not perfectly clean... 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
