The area works well for hiking, and France is close enough for a short outing. There’s a bakery just across the road for fresh morning rolls, and most other things are an easy drive away. We came with our three-month-old daughter and were welcomed so warmly. The apartment felt modern and had everything we needed.

We really enjoyed staying here. The owners were friendly, and even gave us a carton of fresh eggs from their chickens. The cottage was clean and modern, with everything we needed, and the setting was peaceful with lots of hiking paths nearby. The garden was lovely too, with a barbecue, covered patio, porch swing, and sun loungers. We could have used a few little extras, like spare pillows and a wok.

We stayed in the Pfaffenfels apartment, one of two in the holiday home. The landlords were really nice, and we enjoyed our stay enough to recommend it. The garden has a very nice barbecue area, though the gas grill gets dirty easily. I spent an hour scrubbing one clean, so cover it with foil or get the good Landmann from the gas station. Inside, the kitchen is set up for cooking, baking, and roasting, the sofa is comfortable, and the Wi-Fi was fine for streaming on a phone. ALDI Talk had no reception, but at least there’s Wi-Fi. The house carries sound quite a bit, so it may not suit anyone who likes to make a lot of noise.
