We wanted somewhere quiet in beautiful surroundings because of the coronavirus situation, and found this lovely farm. The apartment was really clean, with a large bedroom with a double bed and an extra single for a child if needed, a well-equipped kitchen, a small living room, and a big balcony overlooking the valley and the town of Schuttertal. Our host Mechtilde was kind and helpful. You can walk straight into the woods behind the farmhouse. There are also plenty of good day trips: castles, a rodelbahn, old towns like Freiburg and Colmar, and the cuckoo clock centers and waterfalls in Triberg.

Chickens and cats make this a lovely place for children too. The atmosphere is unique, and the people are warm and welcoming. Everything was spotless. We’re sure to come back. Highly recommended.

The room was cold all night. It was below 5 degrees outside, the heating was off, and the radiator never warmed up. We woke to condensation on the windows and a slight sore throat from the cold air. The floor also hadn’t been cleaned or vacuumed, and there were even bits of grass around. I found hairs on the bed, too. We’d booked for two, but there was just one pillow on the bed. The other had a hole in its cover and was left on a chair. The tourist tax form mentioned in the earlier description was missing as well, though there were €4 in the room, maybe left by the previous guests. Self check-in went smoothly, the directions were helpful since Google Maps can be inaccurate, the Wi-Fi worked perfectly, and the bathroom and toilet looked clean. There were power outlets, too.

Kids have plenty to discover here, and the people are really welcoming. If you’re into tractors and farm life, you’ll feel right at home. I can’t share more photos because my children are in all of them.
