Hotel Smartino

It's a small, nice hotel with E-Car accommodation. A few things were missing for me: the shower towels were small, there was no washcloth or wall hooks for towels, no scrambled eggs, and no room phone.

We booked Smartino hotel for one night and were pleasantly surprised. It was quiet and clean, with a cute interior, friendly staff, plenty of free parking, and a delicious breakfast. We'd definitely recommend it.

We had a comfortable stay for two nights, though the room felt small for two people with luggage. We had to move our bags between the room and the car. The bathroom was clean and adequate, with a nice set of amenities. Internet worked at a sufficient speed in the room, lobby and restaurant, and I didn't have to keep entering the username and password. Breakfast had a nice spread of pastries and baked goods, mostly cold apart from boiled eggs. It was around 30C during our warm couple of days, and the hotel has no air conditioning, like many German hotels. The front desk kindly lent me a Dyson fan, which was a lifesaver. The window only tilts open, so without the fan the room would have felt suffocating. The hotel is in the countryside outside Schwaebish Hall, in a very quiet area. The only activity nearby was sheep grazing in a field, and it's within walking distance of a regional airport. There's plenty of free parking right outside the rooms, and check-in was quick, with the room as booked. Restaurant options within walking distance are limited. Ristorante da Filippo, about five minutes away, serves pizza and pasta, and Gasthof Hirsch, about ten minutes away, is a typical German restaurant. I ate at both, but neither was anything to write home about. It's a reasonably priced hotel with modern rooms and a good choice if you need to be around Schwaebish Hall. I'd consider staying again in winter or when it's not so hot.

After around 20 nights here over three months, this is my take. I travel around Germany for consulting work and spend about 180 nights a year in different hotels. Smartino is an affordable business hotel in schwaebisch Hall, with the comforts and advantages I'd expect from an upper-class business hotel in Frankfurt or another major city. Parking is free. There are downsides: no gym, and it's quite remote, with the nearest supermarket a 20-minute walk away. The studio was a letdown too. It has a stove but no pots.
