I’ve booked rooms here many times, and everything has been perfect. Some comments call it old, but I see it as a modern hotel kept in an old style by the management, and I love that. Thank you to the team for everything, keep it up.
The room was nicely decorated, with a big, comfortable bed, working internet, complimentary coffee, tea, and water, a kettle, and a Nespresso machine. I wasn’t completely sure whether the machine was complimentary, but a plate said Gastgeschenke and there were no prices. There was no air conditioning, just a small fan. In the second room we were moved to, the remote worked, but there were no curtains, so we had to shut the shutters for privacy and give up the sunlight. The first room’s remote was missing; we found one in an open hallway closet, but it didn’t work even after we changed its batteries. We called the number three times without an answer. On the fourth try, the recording said reception was closed. We emailed asking for a call back, but nobody called, so we tried again. The number was supposed to be available 24/7, and the end of the automated message said to press 1 for help. A friendly man then said he’d call back. When he did, he gave us a code for another room with a TV remote, but that remote didn’t work with our TV, so he asked us to change rooms. At checkout, the form asked whether we had used anything from the minibar, but neither room had a minibar, which left me unsure again whether the coffee was free. There’s no hotel parking lot, though there are spaces on the street. We found the hotel on Google Maps and called to ask about availability. A nice woman told us to book online. We’d considered booking without breakfast after reading the reviews, but she assured us it was a normal buffet, so we booked it. Afterward, I got an email asking for payment. At the entrance there’s a code box, but we hadn’t received a code by email because of a technical problem. I called again, and a nice woman took a little while to look into it before giving us the code. We got in and found our room on the second floor, with no elevator. There was another code box by the room door. The same code didn’t open it; we eventually realized that pressing a small lever opens a box containing the room key. The folder in our room had three sheets. One said we needed vouchers for breakfast, but none were there. Another had a map to the bakery. The last said that if the vouchers were missing, we should collect them from a box at the entrance, which we did. The next morning, checkout was by 10, but breakfast was at the bakery a few houses down the street, so unless you’re up very early you have to leave before eating. I didn’t enjoy that, and I’ve never had such an early checkout; it’s usually at least 11. I don’t understand why it needs to be so early when rooms are only cleaned every two days anyway. The breakfast wasn’t a buffet, just a regular bakery where we had to wait in line. We handed over our vouchers while people were queuing, which felt awkward as they prepared our food. They said we should have reserved breakfast, but nobody had told us we needed to. You only get to choose the hot drink. The rest was a basket of bread, a tray of ham, cheese, butter and jam, one egg, and a bottle of concentrated orange juice. I’d skip the breakfast booking and choose what you want at the bakery instead. There’s a cute fountain with benches in front of it.
A nice, quiet village and a clean, good value place for a stopover. Check-in was easy without contact, too. I wouldn’t order the breakfast that sends you to the bakery. Just go there and buy something nice yourself.
Such a cute hotel. I really liked having good drinking water and a coffee maker with coffee ready to use. The coffee was very good.
A clean, relaxed, well-kept spot for a family to get together and enjoy themselves. You can park on the street.
