IntercityHotel Schwerin

The location is really good, within walking distance of Hbf, and the reception staff stood out. They made sure our needs were met and were consistently warm and friendly. I really appreciated that. The hotel is a bit old and simple, and the rest of it looks like it’s from another era, though that’s okay. The room heating barely worked, so it was quite cold. Modernized rooms and better heating would make a big difference.

The one good thing was the central location. Everything else fell well short of expectations. Reception staff weren’t very friendly, and I had to argue and show my booking confirmation to get the complimentary bottle of water that was supposed to be included. The sound insulation was terrible. The walls, doors and windows felt like paper, and we could hear everything. The shower gel was placed by the sink, with only shampoo in the shower, which makes no sense to me. Once I realized it was a workers’ hostel rather than a hotel, I skipped breakfast and went into the city to eat in peace. The rooms are dated, the beds aren’t very comfortable, and there’s no kettle or safe. The only soap in the shower is a champion. Parking is advertised, but none is actually offered.

It’s a very simple workers’ hostel by the railway station, and there’s no fridge or safe in the room. They advertise parking on their booking page, but there’s actually no parking. The staff try to do their best, though the place itself is really basic.

The hotel is in a nice location, but the rooms need serious renovation. Reception staff could be a bit nicer, too. I’d look for somewhere else.
