Söhrenhof - Spechtschmiede

The Söhrenhof is wonderfully peaceful, isolated from neighbors and surrounded by nature, which we liked. But once we arrived, we found that the "Spechtschmiede" apartment’s condition and furnishings, the number and kinds of animals, and the general farm experience only partly matched what had been described online. During the week we were usually the only family there, so there wasn’t much chance to play or spend time with other families. The landlord came across as superficial, and we didn’t feel welcome. Worse, I was later accused of a very serious offense that had no basis, and that permanently spoiled our impression. It didn’t feel much like a farm to us. With so little variety, we took day trips, aside from walks with the two alpacas, Moritz and Lillet.

My colleagues especially loved seeing the sheep and alpacas. We were there as a team, and the owners were friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Söhrenhof is peaceful, and both the accommodation and pastures are very well kept. Absolutely fantastic, and highly recommended.

We came upon Söhrenhof by chance after deciding on a last-minute holiday in the Lüneburg Heath. The family made us feel welcome, and everything about dealing with them was easy and friendly. The 'Spechtschmiede' holiday home has spacious rooms and lovely furnishings, and its big windows caught our eye straight away. We did find the sofa and the master bedroom mattress could be more comfortable.

We got lucky with a spontaneous short break at Söhrenhof, and getting there and checking in was easy. Jürgen was a great host, and we felt at home right away in the "Spechtschmiede" apartment. It was clean and especially well equipped in the kitchen. The whole farm is welcoming to dogs, and the little swimming lake was a real highlight. We had everything we needed and are already looking forward to visiting Söhrenhof again.
