Ferienwohnung am Rotbach

We love returning to the holiday apartment on the Rotbach stream in every season. It feels like home as soon as we arrive. It’s right on the Rotbach river and makes a great base for mountain lovers, skiers, cyclists, and other visitors to the Oberallgäu. The apartment is spacious, strikingly furnished, and very family friendly. The beds are extremely comfortable, with two double beds that can easily fit three children. The living room is huge and comfortable. There’s a bathroom with a bathtub and toilet, a separate toilet, and an especially well equipped kitchen. Five people can comfortably sit at the large kitchen table for breakfast, and the kitchen has everything for cooking and baking. The owner has put together lots of board games, including newer ones, plus a private library with plenty of information about Oberallgäu and reading for rainy days. There are also TVs in the living room and one bedroom. Downstairs, the apartment has its own parking space, a washer and dryer, and at least five bicycles ready to use. It’s exceptionally clean, thanks to a very conscientious local cleaner who is also courteous and always friendly as a contact person. The landlord is available literally any time, day or night, and does everything possible to make the stay pleasant. There’s a lot nearby for day trips. In winter, the nearest ski area in Ofterschwang is a ten-minute drive, and Oberstdorf and the Nebelhorn mountain are less than twenty minutes away. Hiking trails start right from Sonthofen. The Iller Cycle Path is close by too, and you can ride upstream to Oberstdorf in half an hour, passing the Auwaldsee lake near Fischen and the source of the Iller River. Around the corner are all the conveniences of a small Allgäu town: two excellent bakeries, several restaurants and supermarkets, and specialist shops for buying or repairing equipment.

The apartment was bright, welcoming, clean, and great. The landlord was very friendly and happy to answer any questions about Sonthofen. There are attractive pictures in every room too. Everything was great.
