Eddy's restaurant was a little pricier, a couple of € more than the area's standard Allgäuer places doing 'cooking with knorr', but the quality was on another level. I had a superb lunch, especially the hollandaise. We could hear Eddy making it, and he seems to take real pride in doing things properly.

The chefs are the best part of the hotel. I wanted to try every dish from the beergarden and restaurant, but there was just too much to eat. I stayed for two days at this lovely family-run hotel. In the evening I met some cool, I think international, guys at the bar. The villages around Sonthofen are beautiful too, so have a look around.

A small, pleasant mountain hotel in a typical Bavarian style.
