Breakfast was okay, but the place felt old. I was put in a basement room without a private bathroom.

It feels like nothing has changed here in 50 years.

The worst place I've ever stayed.

After 11 p.m., a young man showed up and demanded a 100% surcharge, although he'd previously offered the room for €75 per person. Local police had to intervene, and the case was reported for prosecution. The room itself was dingy, deeply communist, to put it mildly, and the shower bathroom was a plywood annex.

The part that sticks with me is how hard it was to find somewhere else at the last minute. The biggest German festival was happening at the Hockenheimring, so accommodation was nearly impossible to come by. We'd booked months ahead, yet just before check-in we were told there were no rooms. Getting clear communication or help finding an alternative was extremely difficult. In hindsight, the other receptions we dealt with made for a positive experience, but that frantic search was incredibly frustrating. One star feels too generous. 😡
