Villa am Schwanenteich

The price is very reasonable, parking is easy, and the apartment is close to the city centre. But compared with our stay two years ago, it was in much worse shape. The tables are far too small for board games or a comfortable breakfast for three. The sofa bed is grimy and neglected, as if it had never been cleaned, and it's very uncomfortable. The TV remote didn't work, the bathroom tap is loose, and there's nowhere suitable for clothes or toiletries. The place needs renovation, with dust and dirt in easy-to-reach corners and skylights that haven't been cleaned in ages. The entrance by the front door is yellowed and reeks of stale cigarette smoke. The outdoor area pictured, with its swing and shelter, isn't nearly as inviting in person as the photos suggest. After I booked the apartment again today to give the host a chance to improve, he called me. He didn't apologize for any possible lack of cleanliness or ask what could be better. Instead, he rudely asked how I could consider booking again if the tables were too small for my board games, and made it clear he didn't need the money. I'd originally written a more restrained review, but changed it afterward.

Free parking is included, and both Spremberg Castle and the lovely city park are close by. The apartment is cosy, very clean and equipped with every comfort, all at a reasonable price.

The apartments feel really cosy and are furnished with care. The landlords are very friendly.

A friendly owner, lovely decor and a clean place. It's a handy base for visiting the nearby lakes. I took off a star because we found the lack of air conditioning bothersome in hot weather.
