The ship-like design, right down to the feel of the decks, gives the hotel a distinctive look. Our modern room was well equipped, and the staff were friendly and ready to help. One of the nicest hotel stays we've had, and we'd recommend it to anyone visiting Stade.

The riverside setting was a real highlight for me. It's about a 10-minute walk from the city centre, with a path along the water and even opportunities for water sports. The staff were kind, the rooms comfortable, and the service good.

We chose Stader Hof for a couple's getaway in February 2020 partly because we wanted to use the steam room, but it was out of order during our stay. When we asked about a discount, they declined. At checkout, the card machine wasn't working, so we paid the invoice they emailed us right away. A few weeks later, though, we got a rude letter demanding payment and threatening collection calls. The building and rooms are quite nice, and we understand that problems happen, but we expected a 4-star hotel to handle them more professionally and make things right.

The rooms are comfortable, but the staff weren't friendly. Breakfast runs until 10am, yet arriving at 9.30 felt like we were almost being pushed out. For somewhere meant to be 4-star superior, I'd rate it more like 3-star.

The room was quiet and had the services I needed for a business trip, and the service was good for the price. There was no air conditioning, though, so it got a little hot in July.
