Steinach has few options for an evening meal, and during my two-day stay I couldn’t get breakfast or even coffee. The hotel restaurant wasn’t due to open until April 17, but I arrived on April 7. No one told me this when I booked. After 10 hours of travel, I found the hotel locked up at 18:00. I called the contact number and waited half an hour before getting the code to retrieve my key. The hotel was empty. It was overpriced and lacked adequate facilities. I’ve reported it to my company so no one else will stay here. I wouldn’t return or recommend it to anyone. If I could give zero stars, I would.

The area around the hotel is very quiet, and the rooms are spacious and very clean. If you’re coming from the U.S., bring a plug adapter to charge your phone or computer. For access after hours, you need to call an on-call person to get the code for the box holding your building and room access cards.

The room was clean and had basic comfort, which was fine for this class of hotel. Wi-Fi was free, but nobody mentioned it at check-in, so we missed out. The shower head was defective and should have been replaced before we arrived.

It’s a nice inn at a reasonable price, and getting there by train or car is easy. A great base if you want to go skiing or hiking.
