Homanns Landhaus

I asked about a room for me and our three dogs and was met with what felt like racist thinking and discrimination. Right away, they wanted to know if the dogs were “listed breeds” and said they didn’t accept so-called “fighting dogs.” When I explained that there’s fundamentally no such thing as a “fighting dog” and that Lower Saxony has no “breed lists,” they vehemently dismissed me. That company philosophy reflects a society willing to do to dogs what has long been considered a crime when done to people. Whatever kind of dogs we have, this isn’t a hotel for us!

I really enjoyed the stay with my travel companions. The breakfast room had big windows and a lovely view over the surrounding area, including distant wind turbines when the weather and breakfast timing were right. It was cozy in a country hotel kind of way, though not modern. Breakfast itself was very extensive and good, and the service was very, very friendly. My small single room was simple, as others have said, but clean and pleasantly warm, and everything worked perfectly. At the back, the rooms are nice and quiet. I did take off one star for that, though even that deduction is debatable. The five-star rating isn't meant to say this is a first-class hotel, but for the overall price, good breakfast, and very friendly service, it feels right.

Breakfast was adequate, and they can bring more if you ask. The beds were good, and the standard was standard. Although it's conveniently right on the main road, the rooms at the back stayed quiet.

Our bikes were stored safely, and the reception was very friendly. We stayed one night during our cycling trip and were completely satisfied. The room was bright, clean, and nicely furnished, with a bathroom and breakfast. It was all as expected, and we'd come back.
