The dining area in the kitchen-living room was comfortable and nicely done, and I liked the creative wallpaper. Beyond that, we had several problems. This is an apartment building in the town center, not a hotel, and there are subtenants on the ground floor. The manager was hard to reach and didn’t reliably handle his responsibilities. He didn’t seem to know how the tourist cards were distributed. We got only one towel per person for five days. Although three beds were offered, the third person had to sleep on a worn sofa bed with a torn sheet in the kitchen-living room. There was no on-site parking, and nobody had told us, so we drove around town for hours before finding a spot.

Terrible place. Room 2 on the ground floor has windows right onto the street, and it felt like staying in a dump. There’s no parking. I wouldn’t recommend going there.

The day after checkout, we got a call and several emails saying the sofa bed was broken and demanding €1,300. We had used it because there were three of us and the room was booked for three, but it was uncomfortable and unstable. We couldn’t fold it up the next day, so we left it alone to avoid causing more damage to a couch that was already broken. We went back to the apartment and, with help from the unfriendly cleaning lady, who unfortunately couldn’t communicate with us, put it back together. It looked like new, and they even brought fresh bed linens. The landlady claimed we’d been “jumping on the sofa while drunk.” Each of us had half a glass of wine from our half-full bottle of Lambrusco the night before, but we weren’t drunk and didn’t start jumping on sofas. They said a family had stayed before us, that we had liability insurance, and that we wouldn’t stand a chance. Greedy!!!!!!!!! The sofa seems to be doing fine, and so are we. Booking customer service apologized for the inconvenience and told the property they wouldn’t get a cent from us. Bad luck for the apartment. The first impression was fine, but after that it was horrible. The mattresses were filthy, with yellow stains, and the bedsheets had holes. There were bedbugs in the kitchen, the furnishings left much to be desired, and nothing looked like the pictures. There was hair in the shower, the beds were uncomfortable, and the walls were awful. The landlady was the worst part. If “minus stars” were an option, this apartment would be the first one I’d give them.

The apartment is newly renovated and spacious, so at first it seemed fine. But the kitchenette had no storage, there were no towel hooks in the bathroom, and the curtain rod was mounted in a rather “Polish” style. There was no handover, so we had to hunt around and ask about things like the vacuum cleaner. The toaster was new but the cheapest model and was broken, and there was no kettle at all, so after asking, we bought one ourselves. The street-facing apartments get some noise. At €183 a night, we’ll book a suite at a hotel next time we’re on Lake Constance.
