Vichter Landhaus

The food is to die for, and the service is lovely, proactive, and seems to know what you want before you do. The building is stunning even before you reach the restaurant, a large house of beautiful cobblestones, with wooden logs supporting its roof and walls. I’d give it more than five stars if I could. An absolute must-visit if you’re in the area.

On arrival, a couple of hours after my call, there was no key, and I had to spend the night outside in my freezing cold car. I’d requested late check-in in writing on the day I made the reservation, then called the front desk to confirm. I called again on the day I arrived and was told “no problem,” and that the key would be left at the mailbox. Management offered no apology or friendly gesture at all. Terrible service. Avoid this place!

The staff were kind, and the food and drinks were good. The hotel seems well maintained, with a nice, not-too-large terrace and good, clean rooms. It gets a bit hot in summer because there’s no air conditioning. There are lots of parking spaces, and I could put my motorcycle in a garage. We took a lovely one-hour evening walk to Zweifall and back. The hotel is between Vicht and Zweifall, and I’d like to come back.

The bed was comfy, and breakfast was good. Service ran a little slow at times, though. We paid 354 euros for four nights, which wasn't too bad. The room and location were good, and the food was good too, just a little expensive.
