The staff were so friendly and gave us useful tips on what to see and do nearby. We ate dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant during our two-night stay. The German food was classic, not usually our thing, but we appreciated it for what it was. Our room was clean, though a little dated, and we were lucky to get a lovely view over the town center. It wasn't serviced during the stay, but they gave us fresh towels when we asked.

We only ate here, so this is about the restaurant. The homemade smoked sausage was delicious, and the food in general was very good. The menu is traditional German with enough choices for different tastes. The wine list is limited, while the beer selection is sufficient. Staff were friendly and helpful. On off-season weekdays, this or the Italian restaurant in the Ratskeller may be the only place open in town, so book ahead if you want to be sure of a table. We'll certainly visit zum Kansler again when we're back in Stolberg.

I went because they serve lunch even in the middle of the day, and was pleased with the excellent food and good service. I had deer steak, and my wine by the glass was very good. Right in the heart of Stolberg, it's easy to recommend for the location and its food and drink selection.

It's a beautiful old hotel, and that age is part of its appeal. Our room was large and clean, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was excellent.

We came for breakfast and enjoyed it. The waiters were very friendly. The hotel itself is nice, though it looks a little old.
