After I followed up myself, the accommodation replied curtly: mistakes happen, they'd overbooked, and I should cancel. That response appalled me, and I certainly won't book here again. I'd booked through booking.com and had confirmation. Then, after more than a week, just four days before my stay, the accommodation sent a cryptic cancellation request with no explanation. Had they contacted me directly or explained it through booking.com, I could have understood. I'd tell anyone thinking of booking to contact the accommodation directly and get confirmation.
