Hotel Am Friedensplatz

My stay was really disappointing. As a solo business traveler, I often check in after 8 pm, but there was no receptionist, so I had to handle a self check-in like at an Airbnb. They’d sent instructions ahead of time, but I still had to call several times to locate my room in another building. The single room was extremely tiny and outdated, in a separate building where residents live. The room numbers weren’t clearly marked, and I ended up ringing someone else’s flat.

The balcony had a beautiful view of the church. The hotel itself was humble and straightforward, clean, simple, and modestly priced, with a very German feel. The staff and maintenance people were friendly and chatty. The breakfast room is a little small, but there was only one other guest while I was there, so it didn’t bother me. I’ll most likely come back when I’m in Stuttgart for business.

The location is very good, close to the city center, and the service was nice. The hotel is a bit tiny but still good enough. Street parking beside it costs 11,30 EUR per day.

The inner courtyard gets loud and muddy. In summer, though, it’s better to sleep facing the courtyard, since the Luther rooms get too hot. The rooms were clean and okay, but a little old. The location is good, within walking distance of the Main Train station and central Stuttgart. Breakfast wasn’t the best, but it was okay.
