Hampton by Hilton Stuttgart City Centre

After a long trip, I spent almost an hour driving around looking for somewhere to park. The QR code the hotel gave us led to a place with no parking lot at all, after we’d first been told to park elsewhere. The whole thing was frustrating and put a real damper on the start of our trip. Parking at Hampton by Hilton Stuttgart City Centre is completely inadequate, and I wouldn’t recommend staying there.

The room felt cramped for three, with supplies that seemed meant for two: just two coffee mugs and cups, and one small towel hook in the bathroom. The pullout couch wasn’t comfortable, and its mattress could use an upgrade. On our second night, we found its sheets torn and stained with blood, something that should have been caught before the room was prepared. There were good parts. The hotel was clean, breakfast had plenty of variety, and it was close to the sights we planned to see. I’ve found this chain reliable on earlier stays, and we did enjoy the visit. Still, we expected more comfort and attention to detail from Hampton by Hilton.

The staff are friendly and quick to help, and the rooms are very clean, with regular cleaning. Breakfast is very good too. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and the Ubahn and train station are close. The rooms are quite small with little closet space, though, and the air conditioning barely works. Even in winter, the room gets hot and stuffy.

The beds and pillows were wonderful, and I slept well once the room was cool enough. The ceiling unit barely does anything, so rooms get hot even in cold weather. Try for an inward-facing room where you can leave the window open. The modern rooms are small even after an upgrade, with no closet, few hangers, and no hooks. Breakfast was hit and miss. Plenty was missing and replenished slowly, and lots of people seemed to be standing around doing nothing, though the second morning was much better. The front desk was okay but seemed rather disinterested. There was no direct recognition of Honors, even though I did get an upgrade.
