The location is great, and the place was clean. Staff were friendly, too. A really nice stay.

The breakfast buffet had everything I wanted, and the staff were very friendly. It's a lovely hotel in a perfect spot. My single room was quite adequate.

The room was extremely small and could use a lot of modernization, and the bathroom and shower were tiny as well. On the plus side, the service was friendly throughout and breakfast was a fantastic, extensive buffet. The hotel is right in the town center, so shops and the beach are both easy to reach.

The beach is close and the shopping mall is just around the corner, though Westerland itself wouldn't be my recommendation. For €260 a night, I expected something different, even though I don't usually have high standards. The room was clean, the minibar was well stocked, the mattresses seemed fairly new and good quality, and breakfast was really nice. It can look quite empty if you arrive a little late. But the notices around the hotel made me feel like a toddler: one says not to let anyone in without a key, and another in the breakfast room says food can't be taken away. The locked doors add to the frustration because reception isn't always staffed, and it can take a long time for someone to come open them. Once, I waited long enough that I dug my phone out from the bottom of my backpack and called my girlfriend, who was in the shower. She had to come open the door half-naked because we only had one key. Halfway through our trip, staff eventually came around the corner, quite casually, carrying three flowers in a vase. The reception staff weren't especially friendly to us, and the entrance often had a very strong smell, just my personal impression. The sauna area was disappointing too: a small sauna, a few loungers in the anteroom, and an extra €5 per use. It feels cramped. Even the tissues in the toilet tear when you pull them out.
