Hotel Aarnhoog

We hope to be back soon. It's one of the best hotels we've stayed at, with beautiful rooms and a perfect village setting. The staff are great, the breakfast buffet is the best, and our dog is always made welcome and thoroughly spoiled.

A charming little five-star hotel with a personal feel.

I booked through booking.com after filtering for places that allow dogs, since I travel with mine. Only after booking did I get an email saying dogs were allowed only in the basement and that I needed to check whether mine could stay in my room. When I asked, they said I could bring only a hypoallergenic dog without hair, with no exceptions because of other guests. I felt they hadn't considered me at all, and now I'm left without a hotel for New Year's Eve. They offered no help with cancelling, just suggested I come without my dog. This experience deserves no more than one star.

We had a wonderful time, thanks in part to the relaxed, friendly and helpful service and the plentiful, delicious breakfast. Our Snowdrop Suite was elegant and tastefully furnished, with a coffee and tea machine and a minibar stocked with beer and soft drinks, both much appreciated. The spa feels a little dated, and some of it is being renovated. That seems appropriate alongside the rooms. The hotel sits in a quiet residential area in the heart of the charming village of Keitum, with shops and restaurants close by. It's a typical Sylt building, with thatched roofs, brick walls and a well-kept garden.
