The people here are amazing, both in how friendly they are and how they look after you. Breakfast quality is outstanding, and the rooms are two or three times the size you'd get in a hotel. It feels more like a vacation home with hotel amenities. The rooms have an old-school feel and could use more outlets. The breakfast buffet is on the small side, though. In April 2023 there was construction just across the street. The noise was absolutely acceptable for us, but I can imagine it gets louder.

Isi's breakfast service deserves a special mention. She has such a lovely, charming way about her that breakfast becomes a real pleasure. We've stayed at the Hotel am Südwäldchen several times and always enjoy coming back. Everyone is so helpful and friendly, and the warm atmosphere feels like staying with friends. A wonderful small, personal hotel, no need for a hotel chain when a place like this does such a great job. Looking forward to visiting again. Thanks for everything, and please keep it up!

Westerland center is about a 20-minute walk away. The hotel itself is tucked into a quiet spot between a residential neighborhood and a forest with a park. It's very well maintained, and the Sylt feel comes through in the clean rooms, hallways, breakfast room and sauna area. The inviting breakfast room and friendly, attentive staff made a good impression. It's a small, very friendly hotel, set in two authentic Sylt-style cottages linked by a passageway in the basement.

Mr. Glenewinkel and his team were both friendly and professional, and I'd be very happy to return. This family-run hotel was a real find, with nothing to complain about. My room was modern and very clean, and breakfast was exceptionally good and generous. Juices, salmon and jam came in jars with resealable lids, a thoughtful touch that impressed me for its sustainability. In the afternoon, the coffee machine was free to use, and there was also an "honor system" refrigerator.
