Relais & Châteaux Landhaus Stricker

Getting around is the main drawback. You’ll need a car or bike to reach most beaches and scenic spots. Still, the nights were peaceful even though the hotel is right by the train tracks. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived, and our two dogs were welcome too. The room had a cozy feel, nice design details, and was clean. WiFi was strong and steady, and there’s EV charging on site, which made traveling with our electric car easy. The breakfast buffet was amazing. We also ate at the restaurant twice, and both the impressive selection and the careful cooking made it well worth it. For my birthday in April, they surprised me with a gift and a nicely set table. Thanks so much 🎉

The breakfast was really, really amazing, and we loved that our dog could come along. There wasn’t a dog bed, just a towel set aside on the floor. The property itself is beautiful, and it’s a special place compared with other five star hotels and restaurants we’ve visited in Germany. We enjoyed our stay and would book again. Getting a dinner table at the hotel restaurant can be difficult if you haven’t booked well ahead, even as a guest. Since there aren’t many other restaurants nearby, you’ll need a bike or car, or be ready to take taxis. The pillows were very uncomfortable, and the service was inconsistent. Some staff were really amazing by German standards. As an American, I expect every staff member at a five star hotel to go above and beyond, and for that rating, everything should be impeccable.

Breakfast and dinner were outstanding, and the property’s stylish wellness area made for some lovely, relaxing moments. We had a very pleasant stay. When something went wrong, the staff paid close attention and handled it professionally. We’d come back.

We had a wonderful four days, including transfers to and from the railway station, bike rental, and some lovely conversations with different people. The reception team was happy to help with anything, and the service was extremely good. It comes at a price, but I do recommend the hotel. The breakfast runs until 2pm, so there’s plenty of time to sleep in, and they’ll make any order. The specials on the menu are marvellous, and there’s everything from regular cake in the afternoon to a Caesar’s Salad ordered at 10pm. The rooms are cozy and well maintained. The cleaning staff came round more than once a day and even turned down the bed for the night. That also points to my one complaint: the hotel doesn’t do well on protecting natural resources or saving energy. Towels are changed every day even when you don’t want them changed, and the daily newspaper is delivered even if you don’t want it. If you’d like to be looked after and pampered for a couple of days, this 5*+ hotel is a perfect choice.
