Mimosa House

At €120 a night for a March weekend, the apartment was okay for the price, though we probably wouldn’t book it again. Digital check-in and entry worked perfectly. There didn’t seem to be any service or reception, so I can’t comment on that. The area isn’t attractive, but the street is very quiet, and the train station, shops and beach are within walking distance. The apartment was nicely furnished, though quite worn. The bathroom and terrace were poorly finished. Dishes were dirty, cutlery didn’t match, there were cobwebs on the ceiling, and the floor looked dirty. At least the bed was very clean, as were the shower, toilet and sink. The motion-sensor hallway light was annoying and couldn’t be overridden manually. It was much too warm, especially overnight, and the air conditioning was hard to control. On the ground floor, we had to keep the curtains closed to stop people looking in.

This place is a rip-off and badly neglected. It badly needed a deep clean, and despite the promise of free parking, we were charged a lot for it. The manager was rude and unfriendly. We’ll never visit this island again.

Sylt is beautiful, and so is the house. The location, facilities, furnishings and cleanliness were all lovely, and the balcony was especially nice. It was quiet and peaceful, and I’d recommend it. There were a couple of small communication hiccups that didn’t spoil the place. I arrived early and had to call to find out how to get in because the access details weren’t sent when my booking was confirmed. At checkout, I was told I hadn’t paid the tourist tax, though I had paid it along with a small extra tip.

We booked two rooms at very short notice from the highway, and they were nicely prepared. Everything was clean, and the whole house had a pleasant smell. The room decor was in very good taste. The house sauna in the basement was cleaned and tidied every day, and we were glad to use it. We were very satisfied with the value for money. I can only recommend the house.
