Strandhotel Sylt

A lovely hotel in a prime spot for both the beach and shopping. The staff are incredibly friendly, and breakfast is fresh and delicious. I'd definitely book here again.

The only thing I missed was a streaming option or a way to connect a mobile phone to the Bose speaker. There was radio and cable TV. Otherwise, we had a really comfortable stay, with warm, elegant decor that felt a bit like the 2000s. The beds are quite firm, but the soft fluffy pillows and comfortably heavy blankets made for restful sleep. The spa was relaxing, and breakfast was excellent, with lots of choices, gluten-free bread, and even sparkling wine. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive, handled every request quickly and warmly, and made the atmosphere feel pleasant and festive. The location is convenient, and we'd highly recommend the hotel.

My trip was cancelled months ago, and after repeated requests I'm still waiting for my refund. The hotel hasn't communicated with me at all. I ended up having to involve a lawyer.

We had a confirmed September 2025 booking for a suite with garage and dog, but when we arrived the Strandhotel Sylt was closed. Information at the site said there'd been a fire in the boiler room a few days earlier. These things happen, but nobody told us, despite our earlier bookings always being confirmed and reconfirmed by email. We had to find another hotel at short notice, pay more, and cut our stay short. The hotel has since reopened, yet none of my letters or reminders have received a reply. I would have valued even a brief response or some goodwill, especially after more than ten years as regular guests who'd always felt comfortable there. It's disappointing. We've always valued the hotel, but after this we no longer feel welcome.
