The worst part of the room was the bathroom. Shower water spread across the floor instead of reaching the drain, and some of it flooded the bedroom. The floor panels were already damaged, which made it seem like this had happened before. There were loose wires and sockets missing their frames around the room. I can't tell if they were live, but they looked unsafe. There was no fire alarm or firefighting equipment, and the building's only fire doors were locked with keys, so they couldn't be opened in an emergency without one. We found dust and cobwebs everywhere. The sofabed had cigarette burns and stained sheets, and it looked like the beds hadn't been moved to clean underneath. The kitchen appliances were damaged, the bin had no bag, and the room smelled of smoke. Outside the window, rubbish was piled up in the back garden, which the owner seemed to be using as a dumping area. With the window open, there was a strong urine smell. Check-in took a wait at reception while the owner sorted things out. He said the room wasn't paid for and that he had our card details to charge, even though we'd paid through Expedia. When I asked about breakfast, he said it cost extra, although the property was advertised with FREE BREAKFAST. Other reviews made it look like we weren't the only ones misled by the information. After check-in, we learned our room was in another building, 500 meters away. Parking was limited, though we managed to find a spot. There was no staff on site: you opened the main door with a key safe and had to find the room yourself. We only spent one night there, and it was a really bad experience.
