Das Tegernsee

I especially loved the large, beautiful spa and its heated outdoor pool. The massage was incredibly relaxing, and the food made me happy too. Breakfast was an open buffet with almost anything you could want. The hotel has a great approach to service, and the breathtaking view made the stay feel like a perfect, relaxing getaway.

At Hotel DAS TEGERNSEE, the room was quiet and very comfortable, with a great bed and a restful night's sleep. Breakfast had a wide range of high-quality ingredients, though the coffee could be better. The spa facilities were top quality and had a relaxing atmosphere. It's a beautiful hotel in a remarkable spot overlooking the lake, with truly stunning views. An elegant, peaceful stay, and one I'd happily repeat.

The spa was the main reason we chose Das Tegernsee for our second visit to Tegernsee, in June 2025, along with the location. The hotel sits high on the hillside above town and has a great lake view. Shops, small restaurants, and the fun Cloister biergarten by the lake are close by. The walk down is easy enough, though it's steep and harder on the way back up. We walked into town, but took an inexpensive taxi with our bags from the train station up the hill on arrival and departure. The hotel has several connected buildings, each with a different feel. We chose Waldburg partly because it's newer and more modern, but mostly because it's just a few doors from the spa. Passageways connect all the buildings. Our lake-facing room had a balcony and sitting area. It was modern, clean, comfortable, and well equipped. It stayed very quiet even with the balcony doors open. We asked for a fan, which helped move the air and gave us a bit of white noise. The charging outlets weren't particularly easy to spot or conveniently placed. The separate spa building lived up to our expectations. There was a nice indoor pool connected to an outdoor pool with loungers, plus a large, well equipped, very quiet relaxation room with loungers and access to the pool and sauna area. The textile-free sauna and showers were clean and well maintained, and not busy during our midweek visit. The very large panoramic sauna is separate too. It's new and has a fabulous lake view. We went to several Aufguss sessions, each with 10-12 guests. The Aufguss Master did a great job each time and served frozen berries, ice, and fresh fruit. Next to the sauna there are outdoor showers and a large private sundeck with loungers and umbrellas, looking out over the lake. We enjoyed the breakfast and restaurant selections. Service was professional without being intrusive. The quiet room, cleanliness, service, and spa experience all met or exceeded our expectations. We'd visit this relaxing property again.

It was peaceful and quiet, just right for a relaxing break. Everything was clean, comfortable, and well looked after. The staff were so kind and helpful, always making me feel welcome, and breakfast was outstanding with plenty of tasty choices. I'd definitely recommend it for an enjoyable, peaceful stay.
