Gästehaus Schiemann

Mrs. Stern really makes the place. She looks after guests so well, and when the Wi-Fi didn't work, she promptly offered a €30 discount without any fuss. The cleanliness was also first-rate. The setting, though, is right in an industrial area with old tires and shipping containers in view, and the value for money is absolutely poor.

The rooms and amenities were genuinely very good, and everything was clean, but we still left feeling ripped off. The rate shown was €43 for one or two people. Since we only stayed a single night, that quickly turned into a per-person charge. A 100% markup is outrageous.

We'd happily come back. Communication with the owners/operators was excellent, and they were friendly and accommodating. The apartment was bright, quiet, spotless, and very spacious. They'd even laid everything out with care, and the bathroom had the usual toiletries plus free slippers, a toothbrush, and a nail file. The view isn't much to look at, but you're not spending your time in a hotel just to admire it. “The gentlemen from the gas station.” We felt incredibly comfortable.

We needed several rooms at fairly short notice for a family celebration, and Ms. Stern made everything easy. She was consistently smooth to communicate with, and she was flexible when our group needed a bit of leeway on arrival time. We felt very comfortable, the rooms were in excellent shape, and the welcome and goodbye were both warm. We'd gladly stay again and can absolutely recommend it.
