The standout feature is the apartment's position right across from the beach entrance. We could leave the car and bikes in the underground garage for free, and take the elevator straight to the apartments. The place is spacious and nicely furnished for four, and that location won us over. The roughly 70-square-meter layout worked well. The first bedroom has a double bed and small balcony, though with the baby cot we had in there it felt cramped. Its wardrobe isn't fully usable, since a vacuum, clothes rack, and other things take up space. The second bedroom has a roomy box-spring bed and a large wardrobe, with comfortable space for two. The living room is well furnished and has a balcony where we could enjoy the evening sun, looking over the parking lot and housing complex. The kitchenette had what we needed, though a few more teaspoons would help. With four people and a baby, they were in shorter supply than knives and forks. The bathroom is a good size, with a walk-in shower and washing machine. It was handy to be able to do laundry quickly with the children. The shoe cabinet in the hall needs some fixing: the bottom of the top drawer is warped, so flat things like keys slip out the back, and shoes fall through the doors because their back panels are missing.

The location is great, and Timmendorfer Strand itself has been wonderful for us. We'd love to return next year, but we'd definitely choose somewhere else to stay. We arrived two days ago as a family of four, having booked apartment 11, managed by Kraushaar Property Management. Apart from the location, we found the apartment unacceptable. It was extremely dirty when we arrived: hair in every room, large white marks on the couch, old dust on shelves and surfaces, a sticky floor, brown marks on the wall, and more. They offered to send someone to clean that day, but nobody contacted us, so we vacuumed, cleaned, disinfected, and mopped it ourselves. It also smelled strongly of smoke despite being advertised as non-smoking. The furniture doesn't look old, but it's worn out. The sofa stools, clothes rack, shelf panel, and bathroom fan were broken. Even basic kitchen items like pots and pans couldn't be used. Nothing seemed to have been handled with care. We documented the defects and sent them to management on arrival. The only response was a new clothes drying rack. When we followed up about replacement pots or any compensation, we heard nothing.

Apartment 9 needs a bit more cleaning. We even found a piece of broken glass in the carpet, though luckily nobody got hurt, so that cost it a star. The location is right by the sea, with a short walk to Timmendorfer Strand center or the harbor at Niendorf. The elevator is a big help with children and beach strollers, and it's well placed for beach days and trips around the area. The apartment suits up to three people, or two adults and two children. There's one bedroom with blackout curtains, plus a sofa bed in the much brighter living room. The door closes by itself, which risks slamming and makes getting in a bit of a nuisance.

We rented the apartment through Böbs, and the complex was very well kept.
