Seaside-Strandhotel

Waking to the sound of waves and watching the sunrise from the balcony was unbeatable. The sea view was fantastic. The room was spotless and tastefully furnished in a modern style, and we felt at home right away. We were completely satisfied with our stay and can wholeheartedly recommend the room. We’ll definitely return.

The location is unbeatable, but that was the only positive. There was no reception, and we hadn’t been told. Since we had no code, getting the key was extremely difficult. We tried several numbers without success and finally left a voicemail. They tried for about an hour to sort it out, and after wandering around for an hour and a half with our vacation off to a bad start, apparently we were expected to thank the concierge. We did thank the excellent concierge service, of course. Without doing anything, we were even able to get into the room. The room’s cleanliness and condition were awful. We couldn’t tilt the window open because staff or restaurant guests were constantly smoking and chatting below, and the view of several gas bottles did nothing for the vacation mood. The overhead shower was broken and sprayed water all over the bathroom. The toilet paper holder was hanging off, and there were dark splashes beside the toilet. The coffee machine still had residue from the previous guest. The safe was partly dismantled, though it did work with the key. There was no room folder, Wi-Fi password or parking information. It all felt terribly careless. It was a real shame, especially at such an overpriced rate. When I asked the cleaning staff about it, their helplessness was obvious. I’ll spare you the rest and include just one photo. What a shame. 😕

We booked three rooms and, given the poor reviews, weren’t sure what to expect. The landlord was always quick and friendly in communicating, and we were very pleasantly surprised. We lacked nothing. The sea-view rooms were fantastic, while the terrace room was spacious and came with a lovely terrace and beach chair. The location and the rooms were very nice, and we liked the house’s design. Our only complaint was the overpriced parking. The coffee machine is really small.

The actual condition was far worse than the photos suggested, and I’d strongly advise against booking here. We originally reserved three nights in room 13, on the ground floor with a wide front of about six windows. From the entrance, the outside areas and windows looked dirty. Inside there was a shabby armchair, and we had to remove several spiders and grasshoppers. After a dreadful first night, we reported the conditions to the hotel staff and asked to leave. They replied that management had been informed. Then the maintenance man called and said we could leave if we paid an extra €100 for cleaning, and we also paid €100 for the first night. I was laughing my head off. The cleaning staff later appeared and said the windows were only cleaned once a year. If I could give zero stars, I would. To the team, shame on you for this kind of “service”. You’re in the wrong profession.
