The place has a cute, cozy feel, but the food was basic and overpriced, and the staff were so rude that I wouldn’t visit again. I stood in the rain at the entrance for at least ten minutes waiting for a table. Waiters passed me every few seconds without acknowledging me. Eventually, the front of house came over looking haggard and angrily asked what I wanted. I politely asked whether they had a table for one, and he shouted something in German. My German is okay, not perfect, but I more or less understood that there was a table at the back. When I asked him to clarify something he’d said, he rolled his eyes and pointed again at a dirty table. I sat down despite my better judgment, then had the most basic meal of my life. Just awful. Stay away.

We were in Todtmoos for a week and ate dinner at Maien almost every evening. The food was great each time, and the staff were very friendly, especially the blond girl.

We’ve now stayed at hotel Maien twice for a week each time, and loved it both visits. The room on our first stay and the apartment on the second were both very nice. The restaurant is incredibly romantic, the food was GREAT, and the prices are nice too. We’re already planning a third visit to this romantic Schwarzwald hotel!

I’ve stayed here a few times while travelling through the Black Forest. It’s a nice hotel, with an underground car park for motorbikes. The restaurant is good as well, with a wide range of local food, beers, and wines. I’ll be back!

That soup was so good. The servers were really kind and friendly, and even though their English was broken, they did their best. I appreciated that a lot. The guy at the next table kept staring at my girlfriend and me, though. It was so awkward.
