We stopped at Gasthuis Sonne for one night during our week-long trip to Vienna, and it was a relaxing and welcome break. After arriving in the late afternoon, we had a cold beer and a soft drink on the terrace behind the house, looking out over the informal garden toward the Main river. We later enjoyed a short walk along the river in the pleasant sunny weather. The room was nice, with a very good bed and sanitary facilities. Dinner in the restaurant was very good, and we also really enjoyed breakfast before checking out.

We keep coming back to this family-run hotel, restaurant and stube, and we’re always happy we did. The atmosphere is cosy and everyone is very friendly. There’s a walk through the backyard and along the river, with lovely views of the little gardens and nature. The food is well prepared, portions are nice, and there’s a good choice. The beer and wine list is good too, and breakfast was good. For the price, the rooms are better than you might expect.
