Hotel Porta Nigra

The only reason for four stars was a leak in the morning that left water in one of the bedrooms. We moved everything into the other room, and only the outside of our suitcases got wet, but it was inconvenient and meant avoiding the sink in one bathroom. Staff responded quickly, and when I asked at checkout if they could adjust the bill, they complimented our breakfast. We had the spacious, modern two-bedroom, two-bathroom suite for our family of four for one night at the end of August 2025. Breakfast was amazing, with a fantastic range and quality, though it costs extra. The hotel is extremely close to the Porta Nigra and within walking distance of the main attractions and restaurants. I'd definitely recommend staying here in Trier.

The location is amazing, and you can walk to everything. There's even a full-size grocery store next door, and parking was safe and cheap. The rooms make great use of space. We speak French, German, and English, but some staff didn't speak German. As expected, there was no air conditioning, and the rooms got incredibly hot at night. With the windows open, there was a lot of road noise.

Online check-in and the hotel key were very convenient, and the closed parking across from the hotel was a plus. We needed a place to stay for a rally, and it wasn't cheap. The rooms were old and smelled of cigarette smoke. We got fresh towels every day. We skipped breakfast since there was a bakery and supermarket next door, which saved a lot of money.

The service was very friendly, and the rooms were clean and cozy. It's a cozy hotel right in the middle of the city, so you can reach places within the city in about 1-2 km.
