Vienna House Easy by Wyndham Trier

I called right after booking, on the day I had accidentally selected, and was told I could come the following night and change the date. But when I arrived in person the next day, they said it couldn't be done. They made me travel all the way out from the city center for nothing, after first telling me it would be okay. The hotel's reply below misses the point: I didn't simply fail to show up. I called immediately after booking and was given that assurance.

I asked for a quiet room and was told it would cost an extra 10 euros a night. That felt like a scam, since the room they gave me was across from the elevator. The place felt like a jail, on a busy street with cars passing at all hours, and it was far from the center. I arrived a few hours before check-in after a long day of travel, but the rude German teen at the desk wouldn't let me check in early. In the room, there were hairs from previous guests in the bathtub and on the bed, plus unknown stains on the sheets. The city of Vienna is known for cleanliness and world-class service, and this place is a disgrace to its name. The city should sue the entire hotel chain for defamation. Never again.

We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast both mornings during our two-night stay. Most of the staff were cheerful and helpful, and Christine, who ran the evening desk while we were there, deserves a special mention. Her sunny disposition was a joy.

I was there for five days, and my room stayed comfortable and clean throughout. The staff, rooms, and breakfast all impressed me. They welcomed me warmly and were helpful with my questions. The hotel is some distance from Trier's center, but several buses stop right outside, so getting around wasn't a problem. I can only recommend this hotel.
