I spent eight months here for work in the area, and it came to feel like a second home. The family who runs the hotel are incredibly nice and always ready to help. It’s in a pleasant, quiet spot, with a Chinese restaurant next door serving great food. Shops are 10-15 minutes away. I highly recommend staying here.

I really liked how Wald-Hotel is surrounded by trees. The family who runs it are very friendly, and the hosts were kind and helpful. They speak English well. The hotel is close to the train station, about 15-20 minutes from Bonn by train and 30 minutes from Cologne. My room was clean and nice. Breakfast was served buffet-style, and there’s a Chinese restaurant right next to the hotel.

A great choice for families on a budget who want a quieter base away from the city bustle. The family-run Wald-Hotel is near Cologne airport, set in the forest with hiking trails in every direction, though it’s only a short drive from the airport. The owners speak English, there’s a lovely playground and backyard for kids, and breakfast is excellent. We’d definitely stay again if we return to Cologne.

A handy overnight stop near Cologne Airport, with nice, helpful staff.

The owner is so lovely. He’s traveled all over the world, and it was a pleasure talking with him.
