Weingut Gästehaus Derkum

The breakfast was a lovely way to start the day, served from 8:00 to 9:30 with plenty to choose from. There were Lieblinge, the local bread, along with lots of meat and cheese, homemade jams, yogurt, and cereal. For €65 a night, we had a double comfort room for two nights. It's a nice place to use as a base, since you'll mostly be sleeping there, and you get what you pay for. Urzig works well for a short stay, with day trips north along the Mosel to Burg Eltz, Cochem, and Traben-Trarbach, or south to Trier. Weingut Derkum is right in the center, though some of the town's streets are very narrow. The room was a little small, but fine for two young adults, with decent storage, a wall-mounted TV, a shared balcony with table and chairs, plenty of outlets, and good lighting. Wifi is available, but ask for the password, since it isn't posted somewhere. Coverage can be very spotty and varies a lot by room. There wasn't a private fridge, just a shared one in the hallway. The queen-size bed had two fairly thin, hard mattresses, which wasn't ideal for a couple. The pillows were ultra-soft, a combination that didn't work for me, though that's personal. I've slept better, but your experience may be different.
