Gasthof Zur Grafschaft Veldenz

We hadn’t planned much beyond a last minute Moselle weekend, so finding a room available was lucky. The owners greeted us on the terrace when we arrived, and their hospitality made the stay from then on. Our room was very clean and just right for us, with a balcony overlooking the vineyards. We spent time there over coffee or wine, listening to the bubbling brook that runs through town. The inn is in a small village with a winery nearby, and it serves a selection of that winery’s wines at the bar. It’s also a 700 year old historical monument. Most towns along the Moselle are within a 30 minutes drive, which made it a handy base. The owners are great people and business owners. We’ll definitely return.

The beds were amazing. I often get back pain easily, but had no trouble here. The bathrooms are a little old-fashioned, though everything was very clean. The hosts were friendly and full of energy. I was on a solo holiday in August, planning to travel along the Moselle from hotel to hotel. After the second stop I realized that plan wasn’t going to work. I’d found this place through booking.com but couldn’t afford it there, so I drove to Gasthof zur Grafschaft in Veldenz directly. I arrived a bit early and spoke with one of the owners, who said they had a room and it would be fine. It was. It’s a great base for motorcycle trips, but you don’t need a bike to enjoy staying here. There are fantastic rides in every direction. Highly recommended!

Everything was well arranged, and it was really handy to be able to park the motorcycle in the garage.
