CityPension-Vreden

The rooms were clean, and the location is good, but our stay was very disappointing. We came to Vreden for a friend's wedding with our children, aged 1 and 5. My wife had booked an apartment with a kitchenette so we could cook for the kids and stay together. Instead, the owner assigned us two separate rooms. Since reception was just a machine and we couldn't enter the Pension without paying, we assumed the rooms would somehow function as the one apartment we had booked. They were actually single-bed rooms on different floors, which we couldn't manage with two children, especially one so young. We contacted the owner, asked for a refund for one room, and said we'd use only the other. He agreed. We spent the few days in Vreden each sharing a single bed with a child. It was uncomfortable, but made more sense than splitting the family between floors. When we asked about the kitchen apartment we had originally booked, we were told it didn't exist, although I can still see it on the website. We were told the refund for the second room would arrive within a week. Six months later, we're still waiting. I can't recommend this apartment. The owner seems dishonest and doesn't seem to care about guests. It's a real shame, and we won't stay again. I'd advise others to avoid the place. The location is good if nothing goes wrong with your booking, but if there is a problem, I'm not sure the owner will treat you fairly or respectfully. We'll also contact the local tourism board to tell them what happened.
