Goat yoghurt for breakfast, lunch, and dinner made for a very inflexible program. I think there are much better detox spas at a much lower price. For what you pay, the service just doesn’t measure up. The staff weren’t friendly, the service was weak, and their attitude didn’t feel welcoming.

The setting is gorgeous, with nature, architecture, and interior design coming together beautifully. I spent a week resetting my body, mind, and soul at Lanserhof. The meals were delicious, and I was able to lose weight while enjoying the best of all worlds.

The people were very nice, and the physios, personal trainers, and masseuses were great, though excruciatingly expensive. A 50-minute massage costs about 250 euros. Those prices might make sense if the medical side delivered, but it didn’t. The Lanserhof presents itself as a medical retreat, yet to me it felt like a wellness hotel with a medical aspect that was both lacking and full of false or unscientific claims. This retreat is not worth the money. I came with a medical concern because I knew something was wrong with my gut. The doctor didn’t seem knowledgeable, wouldn’t refer me to a gastroenterologist, and gave me an unconvincing answer at the end. I now need to get a second opinion from my doctor at home. They also offer things I consider scientifically debunked or questionable, including craniosacral therapy, foot detox, and food sensitivity tests. I was told, for example, that drinking while eating is bad for digestion. Find an alternative.

For €12,000 for 7 days, I expected a very high level of personalized service. Instead, there was no toothbrush in the room, and when we checked in, nobody spoke English at all. Checking in to 4 rooms took us 2 hours. Very expensive, and not worth the price.
