Hotel Waldsee

We were relieved it was only a three-night stay; a vacation there would have been unbearable. The place really put us off, and in all our hotel stays we've never encountered anything worse. The exterior is run-down, the flowerpots are dead, the terraces and balconies are broken, and there is junk all over the hallway. Inside, the bathroom was filthy, the toilet leaked, the towels weren't changed, and thick dust covered the bedside lamps. There was no food except breakfast, which was a very meager selection of reheated rolls, none of it looked appetizing. Even a budget hotel should do better. Cleanliness should be a priority in every hotel.

We couldn't use the voucher we'd been given, even though it was on the table when we ordered. They said it could no longer be used, which I find hard to believe since the bill was only a handwritten receipt. The food itself was okay, but overpriced, and the restaurant's condition alone means we don't plan to return. When we arrived, after being told to come at 12:45 or 1 instead of our requested 12 or 12:30 lunch reservation, the restaurant was completely empty. The floor hadn't been swept and had food scraps on it; the tables were unclean and the placemats were stained and already used. The first impression was shocking.

Dirty, old, unfriendly, and tasteless. The hotel is a complete disgrace and I can't recommend it for anything. It doesn't even have a website. Disgusting, and yet not, seems to be the hotel's motto.

The view was great, and the breakfast was very generous for two. The food was excellent value for money. The catch is that you can't arrive after 8 pm because no food is available then.
