For what it costs, I expected a proper hotel, not something closer to a dressed-up youth hostel. The room was small, with a small bed, no bedside table, and a TV about the size of a computer screen. Its modern bathroom was the one pleasant part, though there were no tissues, I had to get my own toilet paper, and the liquid soap was awful. The duvet felt like a flimsy rag. I stayed five nights, but there was only a tiny wardrobe for my clothes, and no comfortable lounge or bar. You’re meant to sit in the “lobby.” Room cleaning is by request, which was okay with me. Having to fetch fresh towels and bath mats from reception, which isn’t staffed all the time, was unacceptable. The food was very good for an alkaline diet. Still, I wouldn’t recommend staying here more than two nights.

The price just doesn’t match what you get. The reception was what bothered me enough to write this, since I don’t mind being treated as if I’m at a youth hostel, but I do mind paying the rates of a nicer country hotel for it. The people were generally very, very friendly, though, which is why I’m giving the service three stars and not just one. I stayed five days on an educational trip and did feel quite comfortable.

It’s a good quiet place, and the rooms are very clean. They’re also quite bare, with no pictures or decorations, which feels acceptable enough in a place like this. The food was good, though only at a standard canteen level. Still, it works well as a Catholic conference venue.

We had a fantastic view over the valley, and the whole property is beautiful, a great base for hiking or just relaxing. My husband and I stayed five nights and felt very comfortable. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean, and the bed was super comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were delicious, and the staff were very friendly. With snow in the forecast, we were able to arrive spontaneously one evening early and let ourselves in with a code. Thanks again for that, and for a wonderful stay!
