We booked August 31, 2018 to September 8, 2018, two days in advance. Payment and processing were prompt, and the documents arrived thoroughly by email 👍 Arrival was familiar and straightforward. I'm 50 and my husband is 32, and we've been coming back to Wangerooge for years because we miss it. Mr. R. welcomed us in a relaxed, very friendly way, and was also pleasant to deal with on the phone. He showed us to the apartment and briefly explained things like the Wi-Fi. There was a bottle of water and some apples and bananas as a welcome gift. Very kind, thank you! Unfortunately, our holiday had to end early, our first vacation in 8 years. On the fourth day, we took the first ferry home because our son was admitted to hospital as an emergency. We texted Mr. R., and the key got back to him. While we were still on the ship, he sent a kind message wishing us a safe trip and our son a quick recovery. Thank you. Apartment 2 was very clean and well maintained, and the cleaning team deserves credit. The bathroom is small but very clean, as were the hall with its wardrobe and closet and the living and sleeping area. The apartment is in good condition, and it's clear it has had some minimal renovation. The beach is close by, which is a plus. The apartment itself isn't bad at all. The seaside air is humid and condenses inside buildings, which can cause a slightly musty smell, especially in older buildings. Mallorca was the same. It was more noticeable in the stairwell and hardly noticeable in the apartment. The mattresses were hard, which is a matter of taste, but there wasn't a trace of mustiness on them, great 👍 The pillows were so flat we could barely recognize them as pillows. They seemed suitable only for small children, and that was very disappointing. Mr. R. couldn't do much about that either. The kitchenette was clean and generally fine. Some dishes were old, others more modern, and the coffee machine worked well. A starter set of a sponge, dishwasher tablets, and dish soap was provided, thank you. But the kettle was old, with an exposed, already oxidized heating element. That's completely unacceptable and very disappointing. The refrigerator was far too loud and kept running, which robbed us of sleep. There was no door to close off the kitchen from the combined room 👎 The balcony had a table and two reclining plastic loungers, but no clothes rack. The windows offered hardly any view and clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time. For a place advertised as an exclusive apartment, hmmm! For two people, they provided four small hand towels, two bath towels, and a bath mat, but only a starter set for the first week. The double bed was already made up with linens. There are some things that need attention: the refrigerator and kettle are no good, there's no electrical outlet in the bathroom, and a toilet paper holder would help. A clothes rack on the balcony would be useful for drying bath towels. The fleece blanket for cool evenings had already been used, which doesn't feel upscale. Better to leave it out altogether. And the pillows...
